It was a few months ago, I can't remember when exactly, that I asked Bridget to be a part of the blog this semester. It was sometime before I christened this Season Two of Suite 3100, so I've had this ace up my sleeve for a little while, at least.
The idea is that the circle will, as Bridget put it, grow wider, providing those unfortunate souls we call "Our Audience" with an even more diverse source of entertainment and soap-opera-like intrigue. This is all part of a terrible postmodern experiment, in which every single dedicated reader of Suite 3100 will be invited to be a dedicated poster, at which point Suite 3100 will become meaningless and we'll all go back to doing what we were doing before Chaz started all of this.
Regarding the decision to invite Bridget a month early.. two reasons :
1. Part of the appeal of Bridget's study-abroad will be cultural differences, but a significant part will be her emotional adjustment. I think that this adjustment will be best appreciated if her readers can get to know her a little beforehand.
2. She got a job in a Decatur thrift-store yesterday, within walking or biking distance of Carl's house. I was laying in bed at 2 AM, having a sort of manic rubberband panic attack, when I realized that working in a thrift store (and especially this thrift store) will make for excellent blog fodder.
I realize that this is a particularly long post for the main-page, but fuck all ye dissenters.
